Come out and build a playground with KaBOOM!, Foresters, Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation, and Grand Prairie Boys Baseball on Saturday, April 30th!
Foresters has invested over $2 million with KaBOOM! to build 32 playgrounds across North America since 2006. These playgrounds will eventually serve more than 400,000 children, providing them and their families with a place where they can play, learn and have fun together.
KaBOOM! is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the goal of making sure that there is a great place to play within walking distance of every child. Since 1996, KaBOOM! has used its innovative community-build model to bring together business and community interests to construct more than 1,900 new places to play across North America.
Our KaBOOM! playground build begins early in the morning with volunteers arriving at an empty site. Within hours, KaBOOM! has led volunteers in transforming the space to a vibrant neighborhood gathering place. It is an old-fashioned barn raising with an urban twist! The playground build will also include a Forsters Family Fun Zone featuring arts & crafts, games, and activities for families and children throughout the day.
You may join in as a community volunteer for the entire day, or you may visit during any part fo the day as an observer. The playground build begins at 8:30 am and the ribbon-cutting will be at 2:30 p.m.
For liability reasons, we are only able to accommodate those volunteers who are 18 and over on the build site. Children over five will be able to play in our "family fun zone" wile their parents and older siblings work on the playground build.
